The EECA 2024 Act
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) 2024 is Malaysia’s primary regulatory framework designed to enforce energy efficiency across the nation’s largest energy users.
- The Mandate: The Act enforces mandatory energy audits for designated facilities that meet specific energy consumption thresholds.
- The Requirement: Affected buildings are legally required to conduct a comprehensive energy audit every five years and submit yearly performance data to Suruhanjaya Tenaga.
- Enforcement: Compliance is monitored through the appointment of Registered Energy Managers (REM) and the submission of official Energy Efficiency and Conservation Reports (EECR).
